Ingredients
  

  • 4 beef cube steaks
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth or chicken broth for chicken cube steak
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can 10.5 ounces cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This temperature ensures the cube steak cooks evenly and stays tender.

Season the cube steaks

  • Sprinkle both sides of the cube steaks with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Gently pat the seasoning onto the meat to help it stick.

Brown the steaks

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the cube steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. This step locks in flavor and creates a nice crust. Remove the steaks and set aside.

Prepare the gravy

  • In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions until softened. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Add the cream of mushroom soup and stir until smooth.

Assemble the dish

  • Place the browned cube steaks in a baking dish or back into the skillet if oven-safe. Pour the gravy over the steaks, ensuring they’re fully coated. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.

Bake to perfection

  • Bake the cube steaks in the preheated oven for 1 hour. The meat will become tender, and the flavors will meld beautifully.

Serve and enjoy

  • Remove the cube steaks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve with your favorite sides.
