Ingredients

  • 1 can 21 ounces apple pie filling
  • 1 box 15.25 ounces yellow cake mix (white or spice cake mix works too!)
  • 1 stick 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional but delicious:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or apple pie spice for extra warm flavor
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat and Prepare

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Layer Your Ingredients

  • Spoon the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. If you want a little extra spice, sprinkle ground cinnamon or apple pie spice over the apples.
  • Next, sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apple filling, you don’t need to stir! Drizzle the melted butter over the top, making sure to cover as much of the cake mix as possible.

Bake Until Golden

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Let the dump cake cool for about 10 minutes before serving, it’ll be hard to wait, but trust me, it’s worth it!
