Cuisine American
- 1 ½ pounds medium, deveined shrimp (tail-on or peeled)
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¾ teaspoon smoked paprika (or standard paprika)
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¾ teaspoon onion powder
- ¾ teaspoon ground cumin
- 3 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 3 pieces lemon wedges
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish
Thaw the shrimp, if frozen, and pat them dry with a paper towel to ensure a good sear.
In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp with kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin. Mix until the shrimp are evenly coated in the seasoning.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter or olive oil. (Tip: If you’re worried about butter burning, use olive oil to start and finish with a pat of butter for flavor.)
Once the skillet is hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook each side for 1-2 minutes, flipping with tongs, until the shrimp are opaque and slightly golden around the edges.
Spritz the shrimp with fresh lemon juice just before serving and garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro.
