- 4 slices sourdough bread or Texas toast thicker bread gives a crisp, golden crust
- 4 tablespoons garlic butter spread store-bought or homemade with softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese for sprinkling on the outside
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning mix into the garlic butter for more flavor
- Fresh parsley optional, for garnish
Step 1: Prepare the bread
Spread a generous layer of garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. Make sure to cover the entire surface this is what gives the sandwich that irresistible garlic bread flavor.
Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese over the buttered side for an extra crispy, cheesy crust.
Step 2: Assemble the sandwiches
Place one slice of cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side of a bread slice. Add a handful of shredded mozzarella on top, then close the sandwich with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out. Repeat for the second sandwich.
Step 3: Cook the sandwiches
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Once it’s warm, place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy, then carefully flip using a spatula.
Cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes, pressing gently with the spatula to help the cheese melt evenly.
