  • Adjust your dehydrator to the fruit or vegetable setting, which is typically 135°F. Set a timer for 2 hours to start.

Check for doneness

  • After 2 hours, check the apple slices periodically. The total drying time can vary depending on the juiciness of the apples, the slice thickness, and your dehydrator model.
  • For soft and chewy apple chips, you’ll need less time; for crispier chips, keep dehydrating until they reach your desired texture. This can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours.

Cool and store

  • Once your apple chips are done, let them cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. Properly dehydrated apple chips can last up to 6 months when stored in a cool, dry place.
