Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or regular paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Optional:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon for a touch of sweetness

Instructions

Preheat the oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 425°F. This higher temperature helps the sweet potato cubes develop those perfectly crispy edges.

Prepare the sweet potatoes

  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized 1-inch cubes. Try to keep the pieces uniform so they cook evenly.

Season the cubes

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the sweet potato cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. If you’re adding cinnamon, sprinkle it in now. Make sure each cube is well coated with the seasoning mix.

Arrange on a baking sheet

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, then spread the sweet potato cubes out in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as this can make the potatoes steam instead of roast.

Roast to perfection

  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping the cubes halfway through. You’ll know they’re ready when the edges are golden brown and the centers are fork-tender.

Serve and enjoy

  • Remove the roasted sweet potato cubes from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as a side dish or snack!
