- 1 large onion diced
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 pound ground beef 85% lean works well
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- 1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes
- 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 15-ounce can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat
- 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth or water, if preferred
Optional toppings:

Add the vegetables and spices
