Ingredients

  • 2 large apples Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work best
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice optional, for extra warmth
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup optional, for added sweetness

Instructions

Preheat and prep

  • Preheat your oven to 225°F (or your air fryer to 300°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. If you’re using an air fryer, no parchment is needed.

Slice the apples

  • Using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer, cut the apples into thin, even slices about 1/8 inch thick. No need to peel or core them—just remove any seeds as you slice.

Season the apple slices

  • Place the apple slices in a single layer on the baking sheet or air fryer basket. Sprinkle the cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice evenly over the slices. If you’d like a touch of extra sweetness, drizzle with maple syrup before baking.

Bake or air fry

  • Oven method: Bake the apple slices at 225°F for about 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping them halfway through. Keep an eye on them toward the end to ensure they don’t burn.
  • Air fryer method: Cook the apple slices at 300°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even crisping.

Cool and crisp

  • Once the apple chips are golden and crisp, remove them from the oven or air fryer and let them cool completely. They’ll crisp up even more as they cool!

How to Serve Your Crunchy Apple Chips

Apple chips are a versatile snack that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with your favorite dips and spreads. Here are a few serving ideas:
Add them to a charcuterie board for a sweet and healthy touch.
Serve them with a dollop of peanut butter or almond butter for a protein-packed treat.
Sprinkle them over yogurt, oatmeal, or even ice cream for a fun, crunchy topping.
Pack them in lunchboxes for a kid-friendly snack.

Storing and Enjoying Leftovers

If you have leftovers (though I doubt you will!), store your apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay fresh and crispy for up to a week.
For longer storage, consider using a resealable bag with the air squeezed out. Avoid refrigeration, as it can make the chips soggy.
